Can agents take on this role?

Think of one role on your team. Ten questions on how the work repeats, whether its rules are written down, which systems it uses, and how you would check the result.

The check

Answer for one role.

Partly is a fine answer. The point is to find the next step, not to score high.

  1. 01 Does the role repeat the same kinds of tasks every week?
  2. 02 Would a task done well save at least a few hours a week?
  3. 03 Could someone new do the main tasks from written instructions?
  4. 04 Are the rules for exceptions written down, or could they be?
  5. 05 Is it clear which decisions need a person’s approval?
  6. 06 Does the work happen in software you can grant access to?
  7. 07 Is there one system that holds the truth for each record?
  8. 08 Can you share sample work without exposing confidential data?
  9. 09 Could you tell whether a task was done correctly?
  10. 10 Is there someone who would own the agent’s results?

Answer all ten questions. Your answers stay in your browser.

How the score works

Ten questions across four areas: volume, rules, systems, and measure. Yes scores 2, Partly scores 1, and No scores 0, for a total out of 20.

16–20 Ready to trial
The role repeats, its rules can be written down, and the systems are reachable. Trying one task in code is the sensible next step.
10–15 Close
Agents could likely take on part of this role. One or two gaps, usually written rules or a clear owner, are worth closing first.
0–9 Not yet
The role depends on judgment, unwritten rules, or systems that are hard to reach. Start by writing down how one task is done.

The check is a starting point, not an assessment. It cannot see your work or systems; an engineer’s look at a real task can.

Your next actions list every No first, then every Partly, in question order.

After your score

What usually comes next.

  • Rules not written down: write the steps for one task as you would for a new hire
  • Systems hard to reach: list who can grant access to each one
  • No clear owner: name the person who would approve the agent’s work
  • Ready to trial: see one task from the role done in code with the $750 Role Diagnostic
  • Unsure about all of it: ask an engineer in a free 15-minute call
